Trees and choppers.

Today Molly and I rode past a place that was using helicopters to move Christmas trees.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

A Bell 212 uses about 2gals/min flying in a straight line, so you'd have to assume more than that when flying around a farm and using a ground hover and picking up small trees.

I'm surprised they can still make a profit by the time you add the trucking, labor, 'choppers, etc...

Who knew?

Who knew, indeed. That's just nonsense.
My tree is plastic and was made in China. I put it in a box every year and re-use it. I can't decide if that's any better or not but I know one thing for sure: Burl Ives is king.

I do not know which has the greatest environmental / social justics impact: plastic fabricated by seven year olds and shipped all the way to your local tienda or local trees produced my immigrant labor? I do know that helis are used to protect wet clay based soils from compaction. there is option 3: go to the woods, enjoy a little whiskey with people you love and help reduce ladder fuels. All which can be composted after the holidays.

Thar's gold in them thar trees.

I doubt helicopter-harvested trees are meant for Oregon homes -- think southern California, not Newberg.
