Chris King
It was another fine day in Portland....

So, after lunch, my assistant and I headed over the hill to check out one of the coolest companies in the bike industry...Chris King.

We'd share some photos of how they turn old unwanted automobiles into headsets, or source landfill debris and manufacture it into high performance hubs, or maybe give photographic documentation of their process that actually creates oxygen while solving world hunger....but cameras aren't allowed into the factory.
Heck, we officially never even went inside. Nope, didn't see their chainless propulsion bikes...their greaseless bearings, orgravity reducing headset spacers.
We just sat in the rain outside the converted Folger's roasting warehouse. DiStefano must of drank a lot of Folgers last Sunday...

Seriously though, the folks at Chris King have a business model that's clearly successful at producing high performance products, but what's more exciting, in my book, is the environmental responsibility they demonstrate, the culture that's fostered amongst their employees, the passion for which they support our cycling communities, dedication to sustainable domestic manufacturing, and their support of bicycle policy initiatives.
Whew. I'm ready to make a difference myself now.
Maybe someday they'll go public with the magic that happens behind those freshly painted doors...and I'm looking forward to having breakfast there.
