Oregon Manifest
At first there was the 100 Mile Diet...and then there is the 100 Mile Bike.

I know what you're thinking...a bike built with parts/pieces/frame builders locally...a fixie made from rusty pipes and a mix-matched Chris King headset.

Well not so fast, home dog. How about ti-coupling foldable single speed cyclocross bike?

Or one of my favorite flat bar'd city bikes?

They're cool. Why? Because these bikes are made for the people, by the people.

and made from the people's material....one that's overflowing the PacNW.
Wood.

Well the other thing that's overflowing the area are the Zoo Bombers' bikes. I've seen these guys shredding Sunset Hwy at midnight, doing about 40mph on 12" wheels connected to three kid's bikes welded together while wearing a cape and Darth Vader boots/helmet.

Speaking of 45mph...the guys at Yakima built this adult sized big wheel...with real tires, hydraulic brakes, a beer cooler, and an air horn that blasts out big rig style honks at 150 PSI. Derrick honked it and even though we were ready for it, both of us spilt our local brew on our man prees.

Check out the brake set up....

This will be my next major investment. Its not a purchase, but just that...an investment. Built how you want, the way you want, this cargo bike is 100% custom.

And we've already picked out Jonah's first trike.

You can even source your clothing locally, from outter wear brilliance at Shower's Pass, which I swooned for all last winter, to street smart and trail savvy threads from Rapha.
It seems HUP United might be losing out on the bidding war after my Friday in the motherland of CX...Super Relax laid down a gaunlet that I'm afraid even OG Millillillilliman's boys won't be able to compete with. Or will they?

For the people, but the people... I like that ;)
"Because these bikes are made for the people, by the people."
You know, I actually have an issue with this statement. Yeah, these bikes are cool and I would definitely own one (if not two). But these bikes are more made by cycling afficionados for cycling afficionados. These lovely bikes are way too expensive for the "people." You want the regular joe-six-packs and hockey moms to get on bicycles? Here's a "mavericky" idea: make them cheap. Hmmm... Flying Pigeons from China come to mind. These are the real bikes made by people for the people. No offense to the boutique bike makers out there. I love you guys and I plan on having a custom bike made soon. But you make boutique bikes, you're a niche. The "people" don't buy boutique bikes. They buy bikes from WalMart.
I'm glad someone finally caught on to the irony of that. 2points for Cross.
