mt tabor circuit
The Mt Tabor stage of Mt Hood was last night...and I didn't die, which was a good thing.

Impressively only a few people rode like complete idiots and the pace wasn't too bad. Sometimes early on in stage races every guy thinks he's going to upset the apple cart and win the race from 60th position, taking chances, risking my life and everyone's around him. This group settled down fairly well, partly I believe because the traffic was so thick going uphill that forward progress was impossible, and because it was so fast on the back side that you simply couldn't pedal fast enough to really do much passing. Riding around mid-pack was good enough to survive and it was nice to catch up with a few folks that I haven't run across in awhile.
Mt. Tabor had to be one of the coolest venues to watch a bike race, and the energy on the hill palatable...or maybe that was the whirlwind of pollen we raced in. Check out the Garmin file. Shark Teeth!
Bikeportland.org has some nice photos of the park and race here. I didn't take any during the race, but I did smoke Trebon at the finish to earn back my honor from losing 3 seconds the day before.
My buddy Jim took this photo just as the UCI official tripped over a curb. Speaking of UCI, there was no testing yesterday, and I couldn't find the control board.

your perception of fast is not normal. ya 100 guys finished with the same time but why did nate page and alex rock finish 10 and 17 mins off the back. those guys are pretty fast.
"...every guy thinks he's going to upset the apple cart and win the race from 60th position, taking chances, risking my life and everyone's around him."
And that is reason numero uno why I don't race the road.
Sager, nice to read someone else's top 120 perspective on da hood. I saw that you got one of those stupid $20 usa cycling vouchers from the TT like me... I lost mine. Washine machine ate it. on UCI anti-doping.. I asked about it on every stage and was laughed at by any usac official that i asked.. "oh ahahaha.. there's no testing".. wtf... ok... bye. =)
