geeking out

Its possible that you may have noticed, but lately...I've had a bit of an aversion to the blog.

Typically, if I'm not traveling, then there's not much to update. Well, recently I traveled, and was so busy being busy with the travel that to relay a story, well, neither my writing or photography could do it justice.

The stories and experiences seemed to have outgrown internet chit-chat during the moment...now that I'm at home and back at the grind, maybe I can dig them up.

While the boys were out in California riding in Portland sunshine, I've been nursing a hip muscle injury that's been nagging since early January after a snowshoe day gone bad. The Texas race luckily was tactical enough that faking it wasn't impossible, nevertheless this isn't a pattern that one wants to carry into a new season. I'm trying to heal, get the new projects off the ground, figure out where I'd like to race this year.

A few trends I've noticed lately....

This is Prada store in the middle of Nowhere, Texas. Sort of like bike teams funded by disposable income of the high rollers, just for fun projects do serve a purpose, just as long as you don't lose the plot.

Mustaches and dropping out of the ToC...I wonder which one makes you wonder "why" more frequently. Though, I like to think hair on my lip would feel better than missing a stage I was supposed to be in, but that's a close one. That is, until I read Burke's story. Don't those guys know about fenders? Are they UCI legal?

I've given up on music, lately. Now its pod casts....which can't be heard on the road due to wind noise (unless you're willing to risk hearing loss), so that means bike riding in the woods. These programs have me pondering metaphysical explorations in quantum mechanics and time...not to mention, free will. My friend Robbie eats this stuff up when he's not taking over the world, literally.

I'm getting married Friday at Voodoo Doughnuts. Its leap day, 2/29. I dare you to be there at 2pm, my time, respectively.

I'm finally hitting 5500'+ VAM for a couple of miles at a time, which is a big improvement over a month ago... and 4500' on the mtb with Oriflammes, which shows you have fast those tires are. You know, VAM, the anti-geek Geek's power meter. I'll be climbing like Danielson, soon, just not as fat or skinny.

Saying that, I did call for someone to pick me up an hour out from home on Sunday...I got voicemail and had to suck it up and finish the death march. So much for healing, eh?

Congrats to Doel and Paola - they had a healthy and very well fed baby boy born today.

Loved the chanky chank, Shah! Congrats on the upcoming nuptuals. Wish we could be there and eat donuts in your honor. We will be wishing you well from the East Coast on Friday and offer a toast to your merry path. Eye...eeee! Laissez les bon temps roler! Pass a good time. -Tio Chris & Tia Clara in VA

I can't be there but I love that your anniversary won't happen but once every four years. Genius. If I ever get married, I'm doing it on March 29 too - just without the doughnuts.

Congrats!

I had to read that sentence a few times to see if it was a typical Sager play--on-words. Nope. Congrats man!
