24hrs of Moab

Its done. Over. And so's the snowy drive back over the passes on summer performance tires, late at night, on little sleep and a lot of fatigue.

Moab was a fantastic experience. Its been a race I've read about and heard the stories of for years...

and even thought you can read the stories and listen to the tales, nothing compares to actually being there and witnessing, smelling, and participating in the chaos.

The athletes impress me the most. Duo pros...well, that's just sick. They were giving us a run for our money and I couldn't even hold my head high when warming up next to Nat or Mike, b/c they'd ridden twice as far as I had. Freaks.

Solo riders - I don't have any photos of you, and I think that's because you're vampires and your images don't appear on film. I'll just talk about how the 24hr Mechanics of Moab have it rough. How would you like to wash, tune, and lube a bike every 75 minutes?

Travis, JHK, lil' Sammy Schultz, and a host of others did the for fun team...which means "ride one lap fast on Saturday. Drink lots of beer. sleep late. ride a lap fast on Sunday." Lucky bastards.

Kerkove was out pushing his bags and grips. You could carry a VW car jack in there if you wanted, Dave.

Now, my legs are sore, my eyes and lungs destroyed from 36hrs of campfire smoke, dust, and sand...and we have to start thinking more seriously about packing for La Ruta.

Repair the body, water, vitamins and protein. To cleanse the lungs breath in steam from the shower and detox is what they say. Good luck. Annette
