not the lamest, top 10 lame.

The ToC started today and it felt weird to watch cycling on TV again. You still have to thank your extra 23mins per hour that Tivo exists, otherwise I'd never see anything. I'm still not super comfortable watching racing at the moment since I'm not doing any myself...but I think everyone else is racing...so maybe they'll give'R for me - like TBrown going to Lajitas for me...that's having your bro's back.

This is the time of year when I've always emerged myself in preparing for races...and its the travel and people that I'm missing the most. Ironic because participation in some of the usual late winter/early spring left me feeling empty and unsatisfied...but I'm missing them just the same.

I might catch a couple of stages in socal this weekend if being a spectator suits my stomach. Bike racing is one thing...bike watching is another...and you have to ask - is this really what I'd want to do with my time? There are two questions there to ask yourself.

Speaking of which, I thought Floyd did a great interview during the ToC coverage, the best interview so far actually. If there's one thing that USADA teaches you, its how to research and communicate effectively.

Back to the boring basics, freemanG and I did the Guard House Tour, or as he put it "Tour of the Houses you'll never live in". You'd think 5 million dollars would buy one taste, style, and discretion.

Its not a bad gig - 8000' of climbing's worth of private gated communities and virgin pavement that's 99% car free. It did have its downsides when our timing with folks coming/going was a bit off.

On the way home I stopped and sessioned the school yard 20 step handrail. If I spoke Austrian-German, I probably would have heard them telling me to get the hell out of their video shoot.

Not one to settle on a pre-determined Destiny, or, well...maybe I'm subject/victim to said Destiny after all..either way you look at it - fight it or accept it - my buddy Donald sent me an invitation to a party he's hosting soon...maybe I'll be picking up one of those gated community home sooner than I expected.
