musings...

All in due time. I haven't taken the time to sort through my emotions, the facts, or the places I've put it all.
Read for yourself in the meantime, however, and make your own assesments: Amphetamines, Hydrochlorothiazide, Ephedrine, Salbutamol, Tetrahydrocannabinol acid, Modafinil, L-methamphetamine, 19-norandrosterone, phentermine, boldenone and nandrolone, methylphenidate...yeah, 1 yr or less.

I can't believe the bull$hit that USADA is pulling on you.
I'm have no doubt that you are among the cleanist riders in the pro ranks.
Fight it all the way!
Zero tolerance has no place in the world outside of child molesters.
Good Luck on Resolving this load of BS. I have know you for near a decade and I know and everyone else that has raced with you all know that you are clean.
Good Luck J.
j.
you got suspended? What the hell, they can stick you with a suspension but they can't sanction Hamilton or any one else who is supposedly a doper. yeah this all makes sense.
I knew all those times you beat me at Bump and Grind you were on the Sauce. Son of a biatch. Can you say GAAAYYYY!!!
Yea USADA is putting their effort in the right place....NOT! Sorry.
bummer dude... take time off the bike, snowboard, shoot guns, four wheel and drink a shit lode! If you want to talk at all about trials and tribulations e mail the guy who lends out vests at the Otter....
Wow! That sucks man. Doesn't USADA have better things to do? Like suspend actual dopers?
Just goes to show how F'd up the system can really be! I hope you can fight this some how and return to your nature.
In your words...."Dope doesn't make you fast. What you need to worry about is talent, drive, passion, focus, balance, hunger, and the rest of your life..because if any of this is consuming you, you're the dope. " Jason Sager
I try to live by these words every day. I even have it posted on my wall. Keep the rubber side down and your head up, better days are to come!
Ho. Ly. Shit. Whiskey tango, Chachi?
Hey Everyone-
J and I have been "dealing" with and trying to make sense of this absurd issue since the end of the summer. What we thought was just a casual, "oh Jason you missed your random test yesterday..." turned into nothing short of an absurd display of USADA flexing their muscles to hide their "inconsistent" (trying to be PC here) testing protocols and make an example of two innocent athletes who race because it's their passion, not their livelihood.
We've been fortunate enough to have two great attorneys donate a great deal of their time & energy to this absurdity, only to find any more efforts were futile...USADA was sticking to their proverbial guns on this one.
You ALL know J and why he races and that selfless passion and energy has been taken away from him for a year.
Put yourself in his shoes...then MAYBE you'll begin to understand why it's taking him some time to respond, adjust and deal with this whole debacle.
J will give you better take on the situation, but I just thought I'd add my two cents.

thanks Harriet for the update. i think i speak for a lot of Texas racers who came to admire Jason, not only for his bike skillz, but he is a genuinely nice guy, & damn funny. pretty ironic that USADA picks one of the cleanest riders to test. keep ur head high dude, come back with some "attitude". Michael Floores, from the dreaded flatlands of Houston.
wow j that is f'd up! keep you chin up bud! we all support ya.
Hey, I'm a "user" of your site. I like it. I have no doubt you are a clean bike racer, but everyone knows that missing a test results in a suspension, no? Nothing casual about it.Nothing to lament. Take it on the chin and move on.
Best of luck.
The Steiner
A 1yr suspension for missing a test is totally f**ked up! A rider can actually be found guilty of doping and only get suspended for 2yrs.
I know doping in cycling is a problem, but to be honest, I'm more disappointed in agencies like USADA and their willingness/eagerness to throw the baby out with the bathwater in the process of fighting doping.
Keep fighting J!
I like how that USADA list has some dudes getting only 3 months for methamphetamine. That's cool. They'll be toothless tweakers soon enough anyways.
Jason, you have inspired my racing and set a favorable tone w/ your approachable professionalism. I sincerely hope that once this is all over, you come back like nobody's business. I would NEVER lump you in the same category as someone like Meirhaeghe. But shoot, rules are rules and we all have to follow them. Best of luck with your coming months and don't stop the blogging. We're here for you.

what the hell, wheeler farm pays big prize money you know
I'm a huge fan of not only this blog but your take on your sport, and I have complete faith that this will be resolved.
Keep on keeping on, sir.
J, sorry to hear about this Sh!t man. If only I could go back in time....we'd be State Champs no doubt, no doubt in my mind. Squash them fools at USADA!!!!
While I completely understand that this sucks as there's very little doubt you are clean, surely you and your fans here can understand that missing a test must, by sheer necessity, result in a rather severe sanction. If it did not, dopers could dope, skip the control, and get a slap on the wrist. If their notification procedure was f'd up, then you've got some latitude to make a case. Best of luck either way, nothing is worse than seeing a clean athlete suffer for the sins of the morally bankrupt dopers out there.
Best of luck fighting this. You are the only reason i still try to race a mountain bike. Love your blog and your passion for cycling. Keep your head up.
double u tee efff man. this is crazy talk.
